Meet Nkem Okocha, a Lagos based award-winning social entrepreneur.
She has a rare passion for investing in poor women in underserved communities and uplifting them out of poverty.
She is also passionate about financial inclusion, technology and entrepreneurship.
Her vision is guided by the saying, “no woman chooses to be poor, but we can choose to help a poor woman by investing in her.”
Nkem is the founder of Mamamoni, a Fintech social enterprise that empowers low-income rural and urban slum women with free vocational and financial skills and small loans.

In the last four years, Mamamoni has been able to set up a liquid wash enterprise, ‘Levanter’, which is fast becoming a household name. Women in the Community are trained and few of them are employed as factory workers in the enterprise.
Recently, she launched the ‘She Sabi App’, where women will be taught several skills from the comfort of their homes for free.
So far, Nkem has impacted and empowered over four thousand women in Nigeria.
Nkem’s advice to people who are going through challenges, be it financially, emotionally, or physical is, “they should stay strong and remain committed to a purpose that brings joy to them. She said, regardless of what challenges one is facing, stay focused and be determined to succeed”.
